James Uzel "Jimmy" Paul, 82, of Odem died May 24, 2008.
He was born Dec. 30, 1925, in Atascosa County and spent most of his life in South Texas. Jim was employed in the pipeline industry, El Paso Natural, Trunkline, Coastal States and consulted for various other companies. He was also a lifelong rancher in Nueces County. He was a 50-year member of the Robstown Lodge #1062, A.F.&A.M. and received his 32nd degree Scottish Rite in San Antonio. He was a past member of Alzafar and Al Amin Shrine Temple, was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Robstown and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. When he finally retired, he resided on his son Billy's ranch (Paulmetto) in San Patricio County near Edroy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John F. Paul and Mollie Autrey Paul; a brother, John F. Paul; two sons, James Ronald and John Les Paul; and his wife of 60 years, Lorene Worden Paul.
He is survived by his son, William Travis Paul and his wife, Merrilyn; his grandchildren, Cody and Dana Paul, Jennifer and Nelson Wray and Lacey Paul; his step-grandchildren, Kimberly and Donnie Cooper and Justin Voelkel; his great-grandchildren, Chyanne and Ty William Paul, and Tyler James Wray; his step great-granddaughters, Kamlyn and Kyla Cooper and Meagan Rotter; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, at the Robstown Cemetery in Robstown with Pastor Jeffrey Thompson officiating. Masonic graveside services will be under the auspices of Robstown Lodge #1062, A.F.&A.M.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Coastal Bend Cancer Center, P. O. Box 3069, Corpus Christi, Texas 78463-3069 in memory of James U. Paul.
