Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Kenney died on April 27, 2009.
She was born on Oct. 15, 1915 to John N. and Mary C. (Westhafer) Kennedy in Loogootee, Ind. She graduated from Washington Catholic High School in 1933 and received her Bachelors degree in Math from St. Mary-of-the-Woods (Terre Haute, Indiana) in 1937.
She received her Masters degree in Mathematics from Texas Women's University in Denton, Texas in 1964. She taught for five years in Montino, Ill., before marrying Joseph M. Kenney on June 8, 1942 in Washington, Ind.
They lived in Panama for seven years before settling in the Calallen area in 1953. She taught Mathematics at Calallen High School for 21 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph M. Kenney; and her daughter, Jane A. Teherani.
She is survived by her son, Joseph T. (Bonnie) Kenney of Fort Worth; her daughters, Mary P. (John) Lindermuth of Pepperell, Mass., Anne F. (Domingo) Pardo of Driftwood, Margaret L. (Stephen) Jordan of Buda, and Katherine C. McGlothlin of San Antonio; 14 grandchildren and nine great-granddaughters.
A Rosary was recited on Thursday, April 30, at 6 p.m. in the Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, May 1, at 10 a.m. at St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. Morgan Rowsome as celebrant. Interment followed in Robstown Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Kyeth Palmer, J.D. Lindermuth, James Teherani, Andrew Jordan, Jed Jordan and Michael McGlothlin Jr.
