Ernesto Benavidez Chapa, 72, went to be with our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, September 25, 2012. He was born in Robstown, Texas on September 20, 1940 to Daniel and Hilaria Benavidez Chapa. He was a teacher for Tuloso Midway ISD for 25 years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #3110, Finance Stewardship Committee at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, and the Retired Teachers Association. He made a big impact on the students that he taught and the younger member of the family. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him.
He goes home to reunite with his parents; four brothers, Jose Chapa, Daniel Chapa Jr., Clemente Chapa, Polo Chapa; two sisters, Eva Garcia and Olga Flores who preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years of marriage, LaMar S. Chapa of Robstown, Texas; two children, Ernest Chapa of Houston, Texas, Amanda (Eliezer) Zamarron of Corpus Christi, Texas; brother, Filbert Chapa of Dallas, Texas; sisters, Blanca Resendez, Gloria (Leo) Carrizales, and Lucila Carbajal (Andy) all of Robstown, Texas; his sisters-in-law, Angie Chapa and Cande Chapa. He was also blessed with two grandchildren, Jacob Eliezer Zamarron and Maya Izellah Zamarron, as well as, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends who loved him deeply.
A Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. on Friday, September 28, 2012, at Ramon Funeral Home Chapel in Robstown, Texas. The Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2012, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Robstown, Texas. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Robstown, Texas.
