A house fire damaged the home of a family of four in Calallen on Christmas Eve.
The home is located on the 11000 block of Yellowstone Drive. The house was a single story, three bedroom and two bath and suffered heat and smoke damage and the living room, exterior and attic suffered fire damage. Fire investigator for the Corpus Christi Fire Department, Peter Salazar, said the fire began outside the home but the cause has yet to be determined.
Salazar said the call for the fire came in at around 10:10 p.m. and the Corpus Christi Fire Department and the Annaville Volunteer Fire Department arrived on scene. Four fire trucks were being utilized and about 20 firefighters were on site.
Salazar said the fire was pretty big when firefighters arrived and it took them about 15 minutes to subdue the fire. No other homes were in any danger and the fire was controlled. The family sustained no injuries.
A benefit was held for the family on Saturday, Dec. 29. BBQ chicken plates with sausage, rice, beans and potato salad were sold for $6. The plates were sold at the Tuloso-Midway High School football stadium parking lot and was held from noon to 7 p.m. All proceeds went to help the family.
