Four Robstown Summer Track athletes will be competing at the 2013 AAU Junior Olympic Games later this month, including two individuals who will be participating in multiple events.

Brent Green qualified third in the high jump for the 11-year-old group, Eric Torres grabbed third in the 3,000 meter dash for 17-18-year-olds, and Richard Nava, the 14-year-old, is heading to the Junior Olympics in the 100, 200, and high jump after finishes of third, second, and third, respectively. For the girls of Robstown, Shailynn Johnson will represent in the 11-year-old group for the shot put and discus. Johnson won first in the discus with a throw of 51 feet, 6 inches, and got fourth in the shot put.

The Junior Olympics, which begin July 27 at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Mich., feature the top five finishers in each track and field event from each of the 27 areas across the nation.

Six members of the Robstown Summer Track team traveled to D.W. Rutledge Stadium in Converse, Texas this past weekend for the AAU Area 20 National Qualifier. Those athletes moved on to the national qualifier after advancing through the Area 20 District Qualifier in Corpus Christi the previous weekend.
