Officers were called to 14000 Block of SPID for an intoxicated suspect who had been involved in a disturbance.

Officers located the suspectís vehicle behind the Ocean Treasures building located at 14049 SPID. They observed a man, later identified as Anthony Quintanilla (12.5.1988,) in the field next to the building. Officers observed him to have something in his hand. When the Officers made contact with Quintanilla he dropped the item in the field and was soon taken into custody.

Officers located the item that Quintanilla had dropped in the field. They believed it to be an explosive device (Pipe Bomb). Officers secured the scene and called for the CCPD Bomb Squad. The bomb squad was able to locate the device and make it safe. The field was then searched for additional devices but none were found. Officers received assistance from the US Navy Bomb Squad along with agents from the Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) in searching the field and also the suspectís vehicle. The suspectís vehicle was impounded.

Quintanilla was arrested for Public Intoxication and Assault and was taken to the City Detention Center.

QUintanilla could possibly be facing additional charges for the bomb like device that was found. The CCPD Bomb Squad is working in cooperation with ATF on that case.
