Stars Scholarship Fund officials announced Carrie Underwood as the featured performer for the Stars Extravaganza on September 5 at the American Bank Center.
The first female artist to win the American Country Music Entertainer of the Year Award twice, Underwood has received a long list of honors and accomplishments in her career, including a total of six Grammy Awards. Underwood has sold over 15 million albums and placed 17 No. 1 singles on the music charts. Tickets for the event go on sale Friday.
Stars Extravaganza expenses are underwritten by L&F Distributors and Anheuser-Busch, enabling the Stars Scholarship Fund to direct 100 percent of every dollar contributed by sponsors towards student scholarships.
The event is only possible through the support of businesses and organizations who become sponsors of the Extravaganza. Sponsors also enjoy benefits such as being guests at the Extravaganza and year round media exposure.
Since the beginning, the Stars Scholarship Fund have awarded $19 million in scholarships, assisting over 9,100 students receive a higher education.
“It’s a major undertaking to bring someone like Carrie Underwood, a lot of logistics, a lot of guaranteed money we’ve had to put out, but the community has always supported us. We’ve had many full houses, and in many cases, it’s been the years’ best selling show,” Tony LaMantia with L&F Distributors, LLC said at the announcement on Monday.

The 2012 Stars Extravaganzas proved to be extremely successful. The funds from last year totaled $2.3 million in scholarships which will assist 1,100 students for the 2013-2014 academic year.
The Stars Extravaganzas are held in Corpus Christi, Laredo, the Rio Grande Valley and for 2013, El Paso. Previous entertainers include Blake Shelton, Lady Antebellum, Sugarland and Brad Paisley.
