BISHOP — For its fourth straight year in a row OXEA Corporation wins two prestigious annual railroad awards. The awards were presented to OXEA by the Union Pacific (UP) and Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) railroad companies for our commitment to the safe transportation of hazardous products.

OXEA received the UP “Chemical Transportation Safety Pinnacle Award” this past May for its safe railcar loading practices and for having zero non-accident releases (NARs) in 2012. According to the UP’s website, the UP “covers 23 states across the western two-thirds of the United States.” Out of the many hazardous material shippers serviced by the UP in this area, only 63 companies received the Pinnacle Award.

The UP services both the Bay City and Bishop Plants and OXEA is proud to be one of the 63 selected by the UP for this outstanding achievement! A copy of the “Pinnacle Award” plaque will reside at both the OXEA Bay City and Bishop plants.

On June 18, the 16th Annual Product Stewardship Award was presented by the BNSF to shippers, like OXEA, who safely transport there hazardous material by rail. Greg Hougendobler, OXEA’s Delivery Operations Manager-Americas and John Radvansky, OXEA’s Commercial Manager Logistics accepted the BNSF award on behalf of OXEA. Upon accepting the award, both gentlemen greatly applauded the efforts of the employees responsible for the loading and safe shipment of OXEA’s railcars.

The BNSF’s “Annual Product Stewardship Award” was implemented by the company in 1997 and according to a June 18, 2013 BNSF Railway news release (featured on their website — “The companies were selected for the award for transporting a minimum of 500 loaded tank cars of hazardous materials during the previous year with zero non-accident releases during the entire transportation cycle and for successfully implementing the ethics of Product Stewardship under the American Chemistry Council’s Responsible Care® initiative.”

OXEA is proud to be one out of 109 shippers selected by the BNSF to be honored with this award. The BNSF provides service to the OXEA Bay City Plant and the 2012 “Annual Product Stewardship Award” plaque will reside at the Bay City Plant.
