The Oil Belt All-Stars fell just short of a trip to the Junior Little League World Series after falling to Louisiana 8-6. The loss eliminated the Oil Belt from the Southwest Regional Tournament in Albuquerque, N.M. and sent Louisiana to the World Series in Michigan.

The All-Stars played their way to the regional tournament after winning the state championship for Texas West. It was the second consecutive year that the Oil Belt junior league team won state.

The regional got off to a good start for the Oil Belt, beating host Paradise Hills Little League of Albuquerque 15-5 in a run-rule shortened game.

The Oil Belt suffered their first loss of the regional 9-5 to the Lafayette Little League team on Sunday. The All-Stars from Corpus Christi fought off elimination after beating Houston's West University Little League 2-0 later that day.

Although a valiant effort, the Oil Belt's second loss to Louisiana sealed their fate.
