Event organizers of the Neon Vibe 5K have scheduled their first ever event of its kind at the Richard M. Borchard Regional Fairgroundsin Robstown, Texas on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 6 p.m.

This unique, after-dark event will feature a five-kilometer UV black light journey for participants to run along with glow-zones as their bodies are splashed with neon, glow-in-the-dark powder. Participants will be inspired to keep to the beat during the race with upbeat dance music. At the finish line, runners will celebrate their achievement at the "AfterVibe" dance party around 9:30pm.

"Our mission is to help our society get healthy through fun 5K events and have as much fun as we can," said Micah Black, Race Director for Neon Vibe 5K. "The beginning of this year, we decided to branch out and launched our Neon Vibe runs and festivals," he said. "Our night time runs are not raves and we strive to have a family-friendly atmosphere at these events."

This is the first time Neon Vibe 5K will be held in Texas. Black says he is expecting anywhere from 2,000 to 4,000 participants. Organizers will host their first Texas event at RMB Regional Fairgrounds.

Neon Vibe 5K will partner with local Driscoll Children's Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas. A portion of the proceeds raised from the event will go to Driscoll Children's Hospital.

The Neon Vibe 5K is not a timed race and welcomes all participants regardless of their age or abilities. Children 8 and under may run for free, but will not receive a registration packet that includes a Neon Vibe 5K t-shirt, runner bib and glow powder.

Early registration is $40 per person and will end Thursday, September 12, 2013. From Sept 13th through Oct. 11th, registration will be $45 per runner and the day of the event $50 each. To register online for the Neon Vibe 5K event, visit www.theneonvibe.com.
