The Coastal Bend region’s not seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for July crept down to 6.2 percent, two-tenths of a percent lower than the month of June.

This is a .6 percent change from July 2012, with 8,233 more people employed in the Coastal Bend.

The United States, Texas, and Corpus Christi Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) also saw a .2% drop for the month to 7.4, 6.7, and 6.3 percent respectively.

Bee (7.1%) and Refugio (4.5%) counties experienced the greatest monthly decrease with a change of .4% from June; while Nueces (6.0%) and Refugio (4.5%) counties saw the greatest drop over the year, with changes of .8% and .6%.

The Corpus Christi MSA employment by industry increased by 6,800 jobs from July 2012, with the Mining, Logging, and Construction (3,400), Leisure & Hospitality (2,100) and Education & Health Services (1,000) Industry Super Sectors adding the largest number of jobs over last year.
