CORPUS CHRISTI — Mayor Nelda Martinez and the Corpus Christi City Council honored the Universal All-Stars Tuesday night with a welcome home parade after the team qualified for the Little League World Series in South Williamsport, Penn.

This summer, Universal became the first CC team to make the LLWS.

“You young men put Corpus Christi, Texas, not on the state map, not on the national map, but you put us on the world map,” Martinez said at the rally. “We are so, so proud of you.”

The parade began at Cooper’s Alley on N. Shoreline Blvd. and ended at the former Memorial Coliseum. Hundreds of family members, friends, and city officials gathered at the event.
