The Tuloso-Midway Warriors may not have won their season opener against Sinton last week, but the team has some positives to build on heading into this Friday’s matchup with Corpus Christi Miller.
Fullback Matthew Dickson led the way for T-M, rushing for 162 of the Warriors’ 326 yards on the night. Dickson also found the end zone four times on the ground.
He was not the only T-M runner to eclipse the century mark either. Chris Valdez added 136 yards and a touchdown of his own. Jon Jarisch had 70 yards, while Christian Salazar posted 60 himself.
The problem came in the form of Pirates quarterback Tyler Handson. One of the top signal callers in the area, Handson torched the Warrior defense for 220 yards on the ground and 203 through the air, including six total touchdowns.
T-M will meet a Miller squad that also started the season with a loss. The Buccaneers dropped their opener to Robstown, the first Cotton Pickers win in three seasons.
Miller mostly stuck with the ground game last week, rushing for 183 yards. Kaeun Swain was the Bucs’ leading rusher with 146 yards on 33 carries.
