Nueces Electric Cooperative would like to invite all members and their immediate family to the 74th Annual Membership meeting to be held on Thursday, Oct. 10 at the Richard M. Borchard Fairgrounds in Robstown, TX.
Before the meeting, members and their immediate family members will enjoy dinner, information booths, a live band, and a children's play area complete with a petting zoo and a variety of activities. All members will receive a 2013 goody bag.
"The co-op looks forward to this meeting every year", states John Sims, NEC's Chief Executive Officer. "The air is filled with energy and the employees appreciate meeting the members we serve. Everyone enjoys the activities and it's nice to take a moment to celebrate the co-op's successes and achievements while we reflect upon the journey it has taken to build the co-op together."
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for members to register, visit informational booths, vote, and have dinner while they relax to live music by the band Borderline. The business meeting begins promptly at 7:00 p.m. followed by over $2,500 worth of door prizes to be distributed including a Yeti cooler, and a $500 electric bill credit.
This year, four District Board of Director positions are up for election. Members were mailed ballots at the end of September which will be used to vote for District Director positions. Only one ballot per member is allowed. As Directors make decisions based on all matters of the co-op; all members are allowed to vote for all Directors regardless of the district you reside in. If you miss the chance to mail in your ballot, members can vote at the meeting until 7:00 p.m.
NEC Members should have received their October issue of Texas Co-op Power Magazine which contains the Annual Meeting Registration card. The card is a tear-off style card located on the front cover of the magazine. If you did not receive your magazine, come to the meeting and NEC representatives can register you without the card.
The theme of the 2013 Annual Meeting is More Powerful Together. "Being a member of a cooperative makes you an owner of the co-op." says Brian Menking, NEC Board President. "Soon, the co-op will celebrate 75 years of providing power to South Texas. We have only been able to accomplish this by working together. Every member of the co-op is important to the strength of NEC."
