Corpus Christi Police are investigating a single vehicle crash at the 11900 block of South Padre Island Drive that happened Monday morning.

Corpus Christi Police responded to the crash at 2:24am and found a black 2012 Ford Mustang operated by a 20-year-old man had struck the concrete divider between the eastbound and westbound lanes. The Mustang spun and came to rest in the center of the eastbound lanes.

The 20-year-old man did wear his seatbelt and was taken to the hospital by ambulance for treatment for non life-threatening injuries. No other person was in the vehicle and no other injuries were reported.

Corpus Christi Police initiated an investigation for Driving While Intoxicated because of evidence that alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.
