The Port of Corpus Christi held its State of the Port Address luncheon on Sept. 25.

Before nearly 600 attendees, Port Commission Chairman Mike Carrell delivered his update, highlighting the many projects already underway amid Eagle Ford Shale's booming business and expansions.

"No ship will come into this port full of goods, and leave empty like last year," said Carrell in his last update before his term is up next year. "This port will now be a leader in exporting oil and natural gas to other parts of the United States."

Because of the booming growth, not the least of which escalating from Eagle Ford Shale, Carrell doesn't expect business to drop off any time soon.

"(The Eagle Ford Shale) is like a good tree that continues giving," Carrell said.
