Corpus Christi City Council voted on and passed an ordinance banning usage of wireless devices while driving.

The ordinance, now in the books in Corpus Christi, will restrict the usage of cellphones without a hands-free device, such as blue-tooth, while operating a motor-vehicle.

The Corpus Christi Police Department looks to implement the passed ordinance immediately, with a 30-day grace period.

If caught handling your phone while driving, a fine of up to $500 may be given.
