McKinzie Rd. was closed on Wednesday morning after a two-vehicle car crash occurred at the 2600 block of McKinzie Rd. and Haven Dr. killing a Kingsville man. 

Police confirmed that the crash occurred at 7:54 a.m. When police arrived on site, 43-year-old James Rodney Lawson was found dead in a green Ford F-150. 

Lawson was believed to be headed northbound on McKinzie when he swerved and struck the front left corner of a southbound AEP boom truck. The boom truck ended up in a field adjacent to McKinzie Rd., while the F-150 truck ended up near a ditch, police said.  

Police said Lawson was found dead on arrival. The 36-year-old man driving the AEP truck refused medical treatment.

Police reopened McKinzie Rd. at approximately 11:00 a.m.
