The 3rd Annual Heather Custer Memorial Ranch Rodeo is scheduled for Saturday, November 9, 2013 from 6 - 10 p.m. at the Richard M. Borchard Regional Fairgrounds (RMB Regional Fairgrounds) Equestrian Center.

Over 75 cowboys from across the Lone Star State will compete in four popular ranch rodeo categories, including Double Mugging, Wild Cow Milking, Branding and Sorting/Doctoring. The ranch rodeo will award saddles, buckles, breast collars and $2,000 added money to the winners in each category, as well as the overall winning team for the evening.

The annual event is hosted by Jason Custer, in memory of his wife Heather Custer that passed away some three years ago of colon cancer. Mrs. Custer left behind three children and her loving husband, who gives all the proceeds every year from the ranch rodeo to the Texas State University Colon Cancer Research Center.

Colon cancer is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer and the second leading cause of cancer death in men and women combined in the US. The American Cancer Society estimates that 142,820 people will be diagnosed in 2013 and that 50,830 will die from colon cancer in the United States.

The Annual Heather Custer Memorial Ranch Rodeo is free for the public to attend, as well as event parking. To pre-enter a team of five men in the rodeo or to sponsor the event, contact Jason Custer at (361) 815-3577 or email him at jasoncuster@msn.com.
