The 2013 Canning & Yeast Show was held on Saturday, Oct. 19 at the Neuces County Center in Robstown. Hosted by Nueces County 4-H, the event brought together its various age groups to participate in the show, including Clover Kids (5-8 years old), Juniors (8-year olds, 3rd grade, 9-10 years old), Intermediates (11-13 years olds), and Seniors (14-18 years olds). In all, 50 4-H'ers participated in the show, with more than 150 individual canning and yeast bread entries.

Participating Clover Kids were Caleb Michael Campbell and Julian Quintero of Fiat 4-H Club, and Eldon Cass of Flour Bluff/Padre Island 4-H Club.

The top rankings in the Junior canning division were Reese Richardson of Annaville 4-H Club for fruits and pickled vegetables; Colton Green of Run-In-JM 4-H Club for relishes and salsa; Jessica Green of Run-In-JM 4-H Club for soft spreads. The top rankings in the Intermediate canning division were Madeline Gulding of Trinity 4-H Club for fruits; Jayne Grove of London 4-H Club for pickled vegetables and salsa; Collin Havelka of Cloverleaf 4-H Club for relishes; Jaci Monte of Run-In-JM 4-H Club for soft spreads. The top rankings in the Senior canning division were Rebekah Wessels of Bluntzer 4-H Club for fruits and salsa; Jim Craig of Fiat 4-H Club for pickled vegetables; Rebecca Green of Run-In-JM 4-H Club for relishes and soft spreads; Ross Sullivan of Chaparral 4-H Club for vegetables.

The top rankings in the Junior Yeast Bread division were Reagan Fox of Bluntzer 4-H Club for basic breads, Jayden Floyd of Annaville 4-H Club for savory breads, and Jaxon Grove of London 4-H Club for sweet breads. The top rankings in the Intermediate Yeast Bread division were Hannah Cayford of Texas Roadrunner 4-H Club for basic breads, Jayne Grove of London 4-H Club for savory breads, and Madison Aho of Texas Roadrunner 4-H Club for sweet breads. The top rankings in the Senior Yeast Bread division were Camryn Haines of Annaville 4-h Club for basic breads, and Samuel Cayford of Texas Roadrunner 4-H Club for savory and sweet breads.

The Overall Canning winner was Jaci Monte of Run-In-JM 4-H Club, and the Overall Yeast Bread winner was Camryn Haines of Annaville 4-H Club. The Overall winners received plaques provided by the Nueces 4-H Council; all other winners received Canning & Yeast Bread Show rosettes.
