Former Corpus Christi City Attorney, Carlos Valdez, is officially announcing his candidacy for judge of the Nueces County Court-at-Law No. 4. He has filed the required application and will be on the ballot in the Democratic Party primary election in March 2014.
“I have been honored to serve the people of this county for more than two decades and would like an opportunity to continue serving,” Valdez said. “I am humbly asking the people of Nueces County to now allow me to serve them in the capacity of judge in one of our county courts.”
Valdez resigned from his post as the city’s top attorney earlier this year. His last day on the job was Oct. 25. “I resigned from the city to avoid any appearance of conflict while I campaigned. I feel this was a better way to serve our taxpayers,” Valdez said.
Prior to working for the city, Valdez spent 18 years as the district attorney for Nueces County. He is also a former county attorney.
In his past job roles, Valdez has been involved in some of the most high profile and significant civil and criminal cases in Nueces County. He hopes to continue this dedication to public service by using this vast experience in the judicial position that he seeks.
Valdez will return to the private practice of law while he campaigns for this important position.
