The state’s largest law enforcement organization has chosen to honor State Representative Abel Herrero, D-Robstown, for his leadership and support for law enforcement during the 83rd Legislative Session.
Representative Herrero is Chair of the House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence. CLEAT’s Executive Director, Charley Wilkison, presented the award to Representative Herrero at the Corpus Christi Police Officers Association’s monthly meeting.
"I am deeply honored to receive this award from CLEAT. These men and women selflessly dedicate their lives to ensure the safety of our families and our communities," said Rep. Herrero. "In return, we should always do our best to give our law enforcement brothers and sisters the support they need to do their jobs."
“Chairman Herrero has stood strong for law enforcement time and again when anti-law enforcement forces were constantly pressuring him to go the other way,” stated Wilkison. “His leadership and vision has helped paved the way for officers and their families to not only be afforded decent working conditions but to also see justice done in the law enforcement community. This is why the Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas is proud to give him the Visionary Leadership Award."
CLEAT represents more than 19,000 law enforcement professionals across the state of Texas.
