Leopoldo G. “Polo” Zamora, 86, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2013, in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born April 9, 1927, to Jose and Antonia Zamora in Ben Bolt, Texas. Polo retired as a cook from Queen’s Garden Restaurant in Alice, Texas. He enjoyed barbecuing, taking his grandchildren to the livestock shows, and spending holidays together with family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Antonia Zamora; one son, Leopoldo Zamora Jr.; seven brothers, Jose Zamora and his wife Guadalupe Zamora, Epifanio Zamora and his wife Pavla “Cano” Zamora, Raul Zamora and his wife Rita Zamora; Reynaldo Zamora, Santos Zamora, Enrique Zamora, and Juan Rene Zamora; and one brother in law, Martin Manrique.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Victoria Zamora of Alice, Texas; two sons, Alberto (Eunice) Zamora of Odem, Texas and Hector (Maricela) Zamora of Corpus Christi, Texas; one daughter, Belisa Zamora (Reymundo T.) Salinas Jr. of Alice, Texas; one sister, Consuelo Zamora Manrique of Clyde, Texas; sisters in law, Hilaria Zamora, Inez Zamora, Elvia Zamora, and Graciela Zamora; five grandchildren, Albert Zamora of Houston, Texas, Reymundo Z. Salinas III of Alice, Texas, Nicolas Angel Zamora of Corpus Christi, Texas, Cecilia Andrea Zamora of Corpus Christi, Texas and Alicia Victoria Zamora of Corpus Christi, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 3, 2013, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Rosas Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosary being recited at 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Burial to follow at New Collins Cemetery.
