Port Corpus Christi announces the promotion of former Assistant Harbor Master†Ray Harrison to Port's Harbormaster and Nelda Olivo, former Manager of Government Affairs to Director of Government Affairs.

Harrison began working in the marine industry in November 1977 as a line handler, driving line boats and securing ships. In 1978 Ray began working for the Port of Corpus Christi as a vessel traffic controller in the Harbormasterís office. In 1993 he was promoted to Traffic Control Chief and remained in that position until 2010 when he was promoted to Assistant Harbormaster. Ray was appointed to his current position of Harbormaster in December 2013 joining a legacy of professionals dating back to 1926.

Nelda Olivo joined the Port in 1993. She is responsible for serving as the government affairs liaison and developing and implementing government affairs activities. Nelda serves on the American Association of Port Authorities Government Relations Committee, Gulf Port Association of Americas Government Affairs Committee, Texas Ports Association, Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Committee, Coastal Bend Council of Governments and the Port Industries of Corpus Christi.

Prior to joining the Port of Corpus Christi, Nelda worked for the City of Corpus Christi as a grants coordinator for the Housing and Community Development Department. Nelda is a native of Corpus Christi, Texas and a graduate of the University of the Incarnate Word, San Antonio, Texas and holds a Bachelorís Degree of Applied Arts and Sciences.
