Gusty northwest wind has develop across South Texas behind a cold front. Much drier air has also filtered in behind the front. These weather conditions, combined with areas where fuels are cured for the winter, will result in a critical fire danger today. The wind should peak early to mid afternoon, then subside by early this evening decreasing the fire weather threat.

South Texas Impacts:

Wind: Northwest wind sustained 15-25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

Humidity: 15-25 percent across the Brush Country and Rio Grande Plains, 20-40% across the Coastal Bend and Victoria Crossroads.

Impacts: Fires will likely spread rapidly. Substantial resistance to control efforts will occur.
