The Relay For Life of Northwest Corpus Christi will be hosting its Kickoff Party on Thursday, Jan. 23 at 6 p.m.

Teams will learn what's new, pick up team packets and receive information for this year's event, which will be held from 7 a.m. on May 2 to 7 a.m. on May 3.

"In 2013, the Relay raised over $120,000 with 582 participants on 30 teams," said Stacie Ellis, Specialist, Relay For Life.

The Relay for Life has had a nearly sixteen-year history with Northwest Corpus Christi, as it was the first Relay For Life to come to the Corpus Christi area in 1998.

"Relay For Life has many goals besides fundraising. We want to celebrate survivors, remember those we have lost, and to empower communities to fight back against Cancer," said Ellis. "However, our main goal will always be Finding That Cure."

To become a part of realizing that goal, attend the kick off party on Thursday, at the Holiday in Express at 13425 Brookhaven Dr., Corpus Christi.
