A vehicle crash on Lantana St late Saturday night resulted in the death of a 33-year-old man.

Corpus Christi responded to the crash on the 300 block of Lantana St., when a blue 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis failed to successfully take a curve in the road, crashed into a culvert, when 33-year-old Edgar A. Pena was ejected from the vehicle. Pena died at the scene of the crash.

Pena's 14-year-old son was the only passenger, and only suffered minor injuries from the crash because he was wearing his seat belt.

The Corpus Christi Police Traffic Safety Section continues to investigate the crash.

Pena was a single father after the death of his wife from cancer, five years ago. He's been raising his two sons on his own. The two boys are now left without parents, and are staying at a relatives house.
