The Tuloso-Midway Cherokees basketball team's dreams of a state title came to an end Friday night at the hands of the state's top-ranked team.
San Antonio Brennan, the No. 1 team in Class 4A, handled T-M 61-30 at the Blossom Athletic Center.
Bears senior Carlie Heineman led all scorers with 21 points, all on 3-pointers. Heineman was 7 for 12 from behind the arc on the night.
Lexi Ruiz had a team-high 13 points for the Cherokees.
Brennan (34-1) followed up the win with a 49-33 triumph over Leander to advance to the state tournament. The Bears will face No. 3 McKinney North on Thursday.
Brennan's lone loss of the season came to Manvel, the No. 2-ranked team in 5A, who is also playing in the state tournament.
