A motorcycle accident that occurred near Callicoate in NW Corpus Christi claimed the life of a man in his mid-forties on the evening of Saturday, March 15.
The single-vehicle accident occurred on I-37 northbound near the Callicoate exit.
According to police, the motorcyclist, 48-year-old Timothy James Pieper, was wearing his helmet at the time of the accident. Witnesses reported that Pieper was traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the motorcycle and slammed into the concrete barrier. He was then thrown from the motorcycle and, according to police, died instantly.
During the subsequent investigation, Corpus Christi Police closed off a portion of I-37, and re-routed traffic to the Redbird exit.
No other vehicles or injuries were reported with this accident, and police believe that driver inexperience might have been a factor in the cause of the crash.
