Arturo Pena Avila, 69, went to be at peace on Monday, March 17, 2014. He was born on July 24, 1944 in Robstown, Texas to Rafael Avila, Sr. and Anselma Pena Avila. He was a Catholic and a life long resident of Robstown, Texas. He proudly served our country in the US Army during Vietnam. He was also very involved with politics and various veteran programs. He will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Roberto Pena Avila.

He is survived by his two sons, John (Monica) Avila and Jesse Avila (Adrianne Carbajal); two brothers, Rafael (Lupe) Avila, Jr. and Jimmy Avila; four sisters, Gracie Montalvo, Elena (Juan) Lopez, Mary Alonzo, and Adriana Avila. He was also blessed with six grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, March 19th & 20th 2014 at Ramon Funeral Home Chapel in Robstown, Texas. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 21, 2014 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Robstown, Texas. Interment will follow at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi, Texas.

The Family would like to extend their gratitude to Port Home Health, Champion Care, Inc., and Century Hospice and their staff for all the care they gave to Arturo during his illness.
