Catalina Espinoza Rios, 70, passed away April 13, 2014, surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Catalina was born in Elsa, Texas on November 26, 1943. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. Catalina was one of 17 siblings. She worked for many years at Coastal Bend Youth City where she fostered many children. Catalina is a member of the Catholic Daughters Court #2290 at St.Thomas Catholic Church. Catalina was full of life, and she had an unmeasurable faith in God. She will be greatly missed and we will honor her memory by celebrating her extraordinary life filled with an abundance of love. Her loving & caring nature, as well as her compassion to others will be remembered by all.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Celso and Victoria Espinoza, brothers, Gilberto Espinoza & Jose P. Espinoza, and son-in-law, Cesar Salazar.
Catalina is survived by her husband, Benito Rios Sr. and their five children, Benito (Delmi) Rios, Jr., Gracie Salazar, both of Corpus Christi, Texas; Norma Rios Camp (David Sprague) of Sinton, Texas; Robin E. (Rachel) Rios of Corpus Christi, Texas; Sandi (Martin) Sanchez of Calallen, Texas; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-one great grand children, four brothers, nine sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to Pastor Jose A. Chavez and the family of Primera Iglesia Bautista in Calallen for their support. The family also wishes to thank Kristina, Shannon, Jennifer, Angie & Luz of Legacy Hospice for their unconditional support for our mom during her courageous battle with cancer.
A Prayer Service to be conducted at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 and a Holy Rosary at 7 p.m. at Ramon Funeral Home in Robstown, Texas. On Thursday, April 17, 2014 a Holy Rosary to be recited at 5:30 p.m. and a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. at Ramon Funeral Home Chapel. The Funeral Rites Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 18, 2014 at Ramon Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Robstown, Texas.
Pallbearers will be her sons, Benito Rios, Jr. and Robin E. Rios, sons-in-law, Martin Sanchez and David Sprague, and grandsons, Daniel “Buddy” Pena and Jacob Pena.
