Over the course of his career, George Lopez has seen many things come and go; the five-year run of his popular television sitcom (though it remains in syndication), his short-lived late night talk show on TBS; and on occasion, his consciousness—well, to be fair, that was only one night of debauchery lived out on the floor of a Las Vegas casino. Through it all, though, two things have remained: his loyal fans and popularity.

I personally remember, after years of watching his sitcom, trying in vain to stop saying one of the show’s many catch-phrases: “You ‘member? I ‘member!”

While his late-night talk show on TBS, Lopez Tonight, was ultimately cancelled after only two years on the air, the validity of Lopez remained. He continued touring the United States with his audacious stand-up act, and appearing in several Hollywood films, including lending his voice to The Smurfs and Rio, and Rio 2 (which was released last Friday).

The opportunity to see a man who has racked up a dizzying array of accolades over the course of his career, including a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, named one of the Top 25 Most Influential Hispanics in America, Top Ten Favorite Television Personalities and Top Fifty Greatest Television Dads of All Time, is now nigh. Lopez will be bringing his ever-popular comedy act to the American Bank Center Selena Auditorium this Saturday (April 19), gracing the Coastal Bend with a show that continuously breaks attendance records at major theaters and arenas across the country.

The one-night show kicks off at 8 p.m. on Saturday. A pre-show fiesta will be held before hand, from 5 - 7 p.m. with $2 beer and margaritas served during happy hour, an assortment of fiesta-themed foods and snacks, and live music provided by Savor. Attendees must RSVP in advance. For more information on the fiesta, call 361-826-4759 or email yamidd@cctexas.com

Tickets are on sale now at all TicketMaster outlets, and at ticketmaster.com. For more information on the show, and upcoming events at the American Bank Center, visit americanbankcenter.com.
