KIII-TV will broadcast a special edition of its popular Sunday morning program, Domingo Live! on Sunday, May 4, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. as a tribute to fifty years of broadcasting to viewers in the coastal bend of South Texas. The two-hour special will originate from the Richard M. Borchard Regional Fairgrounds in Robstown, Texas in conjunction with local radio station KSAB’s annual Cinco De Mayo Festival, which runs from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

The iconic program has received acclaim as the longest running locally produced “live” music and information show in the country. The show’s namesake, Domingo Peña, was the original host of the program, which now has engaged, informed and entertained viewers for half a century. His legacy is entrenched in the culture of South Texas and is celebrated every week.

“We are so proud and honored to present this special program to the viewers of South Texas,” says Dan Robbins, Vice President and General Manager of KIII-TV. “It’s a great opportunity to showcase the history of the program that celebrates the culture, music and community events of the entire Coastal Bend.”

“The two-hour special is a culmination of years… a historical look at the evolution of the station, Mr. Domingo Peña and the Domingo show. ” says Rudy Treviño, current co-host and KIII-TV news anchor. “It’s about being in touch with our community and why our viewers tune us in every Sunday morning to continue this South Texas tradition.”
