Calallen hurdler Remington Strickland has run his way to the track state meet this weekend.
Strickland placed second in the 110 hurdles at regionals in a time of 15.18 seconds, qualifying for the state meet at the University of Texas’ Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin. Strickland will compete with Class 4A on Friday, with finals scheduled for 6:45 p.m.
Austin Travis’ Vondell Hargrove won the Region IV-4A title in the event in 14.69 seconds.
In the 300 hurdles, Strickland finished fourth, running a 39.47.
Also at the Region IV-4A meet, Tuloso-Midway’s Cara Ortiz earned fourth in the 800 hurdles. Ortiz ran a 2:20.86.
Teammate Eric Torres was sixth in the 1,600, finishing in a time of 4:28.33.
Over in Converse, Banquete’s Clara Wright got fifth place in the 100 hurdles. Wright clocked in at 16.25 seconds.
