The area round of the baseball was shaken up by some rough weather on Friday, but in the end, two Record Star teams remain.

Calallen and Banquete advanced to the regional quarterfinals with each winning one-game playoffs.

Robstown, one of few teams able to complete a three-game series in the region, fell to Kingsville in a series that went the distance.

The Wildcats' series with Flour Bluff was reduced to a one-gamer after being washed out Friday night. Calallen had to overcome a late deficit, but was able to edge the Hornets 7-6.

The Bulldogs were also moved to a one-game playoff against Refugio. Banquete topped the Bobcats 4-2 after breaking up a tie game in the fifth.

Anthony Gomez pitched 4.1 innings, giving up one hit and striking out five in the win. He was also 2 for 3 at the plate with an RBI and a run.

After taking Game 1 in extra innings, the Cotton Pickers were beaten twice to end the season. The Brahmas fought back to take Game 2 before closing things in the decisive third game.
