On Tuesday, May 14, Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to a business at 13630 Northwest Blvd. for a subject refusing to leave. The officers contacted 41-year-old Mark Verastiqui who was yelling vulgarities in front of customers and children.
Officers detained him in a police unit and while seated in the back seat he head butted the cage in the unit causing a small gash on his upper forehead. He then began spitting blood all over the inside of the police car. The suspect made threats to kill the employees at the business and threatened to shoot the officers.
CCFD EMS responded to the scene and he refused to let medics tend to his cut and he was transported to the hospital. There he still refused to let anyone treat the injury, and continued to scream vulgar insults at the officers and hospital personnel.
A medical refusal was obtained and the suspect was booked at the City Detention Center for making the threats which is a Class B Misdemeanor, and disorderly conduct, a Class C misdemeanor, for yelling vulgarities that offended the business employees and the customers.
