The Corpus Christi 4th of July Big Bang Celebration is hosting an essay contest for 4th through 8th graders. The winner will have a special place to ride in the Mayor’s Fourth of July Parade and will receive a Kindle Fire HD 7" with HD Display, Wi-Fi and 8 GB (provided by the Daughters of the American Revolution - Corpus Christi Chapter).
Contestants in the contest must provide an essay based on the prompt, "Reflecting on the history and deeper meaning of the Fourth of July is important. It is also fun to remember the wonderful ways our nation celebrates. What does the 4th of July mean to you"
For fourth graders, the essay is required to be between 300-600 words in length, for fifth - eighth graders, the essay is required to be between 600-1,000 words in length. An attached cover page should include full name, school, grade and contact information.
The final deadline for the essay is Friday, May 30.
