After a long battle against fierce opposition, the proposed Movies and More facility, to be located on the south side on the corner of Staples and Yorktown, was granted a major victory on Tuesday, May 27.

During a regular scheduled city council meeting, the second reading of an ordinance to rezone the area at Staples and Yorktown to commercial unanimously passed with the submajority, 8-0.

The proposed facility, called Movies and More, would offer large movie screens, and smaller and more intimate theaters, a dining experience complete with the serving of alcohol. Beyond the movie-going experience, the facility would also offer a bowling alley, laser tag and an arcade. Movies and More is being developed by Jeff Dinger, who has built a similar center in Portland.

Surpassing this major hurdle, Movies and More now looks to solidly be positioned to next be welcomed into the Corpus Christi neighborhood.
