Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi President and CEO Flavius Killebrew will present the State of the University at a luncheon at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, at the American Bank Center.

“I am proud of the growth and development the Island University and the Coastal Bend region are experiencing,” Killebrew said. “With our community partners, the University is actively strategizing and planning for a strong future that builds on our accomplishments and our commitment to students and research for the benefit of everyone in the Coastal Bend.”

Killebrew’s address will examine what the future holds for the Island University, and outline a strategic plan for academic programs, construction and research, called Momentum 2020. He will also highlight projects bringing national attention to the University, such as the federal designation as a test site operator for unmanned flight and a commitment to research across all disciplines.

The Island University is experiencing record enrollment of nearly 11,000 students, up from 3,800 in 1990. For every 1,000 new students the economic impact to the Corpus Christi community is $22.4 million and 455 full-time jobs.

Proceeds from the luncheon benefit student scholarships.
