Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to the 2500 block of 25th St. for a hit and run crash on June 6 at approximately 8:53 p.m.

Officers found a 56-year-old male and a 57-year-old female had been struck by a vehicle that had fled the scene. CCFD EMS transported both victims to the hospital.

Other officers arriving found a 1999 gold Ford F150 truck parked in the parking lot of an apartment complex located in the 1000 block of 25 th St. that had damage to the front of the truck consistent with one that had been involved in a crash. Officers then located 30-year-old Christine Griffin and determined that she had been the driver of the truck and she also showed signs of being intoxicated.

Griffin was arrested and charged with Intoxicated Manslaughter, a second degree felony, because the male victim later died from his injuries and Intoxicated Assault, a third degree felony, because the female suffered serious bodily injuries as a result of the crash, and Accident Involving Injury or Death, a second degree felony because she fled the scene of the crash.

The crash investigation determined that the male victim was pushing the female in a wheelchair walking north on 25th St. The female driver of the truck, who was traveling alone in her truck was also north on 25th St. when she struck the victims from behind.
