Aire Serv® of the Coastal Bend participated in the annual “Men Who Cook” fundraising event for the Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Corpus Christi in May.

The annual event is a benefit for the local RMHC chapter, where men cook a variety of dishes for the charity house. Lynn Baskind and Dana Daniel, of Aire Serv of the Coastal Bend, attended the fundraising event.

“We had a great time at the event,” said Daniel. “We really enjoy giving back to the community, and volunteering at the local Ronald McDonald House is a good way to do that.”

Aire Serv of the Coastal Bend has been involved in several other RMHC events. Recently they took part in the “Share-a-Meal” program in which they purchased all of the food for an evening meal. The technicians’ wives cooked the meal for everyone staying at the local house. After the meal was over, the members of Aire Serv of the Coastal Bend cleaned the kitchen. This allowed the houseguests to enjoy a home cooked meal while focusing on the needs of their family.

“People who stay at Ronald McDonald Houses are going through enough heartache,” said Jack Britton, owner of Aire Serv of the Coastal Bend. “When we, and others, provide services like an evening meal, it allows them to focus on their family, which is what is really important.”

Aire Serv of the Coastal Bend donated all of the air conditioning maintenance, including cleaning and servicing all of the houses’ packaged terminal air conditioner units.

Aire Serv is a national partner with RMHC, and they have started a national campaign to support local Ronald McDonald Houses.

Heart the House Day is a system-wide day of service designed to engage franchisees and corporate staff with their local Ronald McDonald House. This day is intended to serve as a means of fostering a working relationship between franchisee and RMHC.

The campaign sign-up launched May 1, 2014. Saturday, June 21 will be a nationwide day of service, known as Heart the House Day.
