The Corpus Christi Independent School Board met in an executive session on Monday, June 9, to vote on the recommendation to fire a King High School teacher accused of having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a student.

The board voted to begin to the process of firing the teacher, but she has 10 days to appeal the decision made by the board. On Friday, the accused teacher submitted her resignation, which the school board had the option of accepting. Ultimately, the board chose to go the route of firing her.

The Corpus Christi Police Dept. is currently looking into evidence for a possible criminal investigation. CCPD will give all findings to the District Attorney's Office, and the DA will decide if a Improper Relationship Between Educator and Student charge will be filed against the teacher. If charged, the teacher could face up to 20 years in prison.
