Maria S. Flores, 88, was welcomed home with open arms by our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Cuevitas, Texas to Lino Sr., and Felicita Luna Soliz and resided in Robstown most of her life.
Maria married Guadalupe Flores and raised their children as migrant farm workers teaching their children the value of hard work and to be true to their faith and fully trust in God. Maria was a devout catholic and a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, the Padres de Familia and the Cuahtemocs organization in Robstown, Texas. Prior to her illness Maria dedicated numerous years as a cafeteria employee of the Robstown Independent School District. She was a loving and caring mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend who will be dearly missed by all of the lives she dearly touched.
She goes home to reunite with her husband, Guadalupe Flores; son, Ismael Flores; grandson, Frankie Vela, III; great-grandson, Steve Monoz, Jr; sister, Corina Jackson and two brothers, Fidel and Lino Soliz, Jr. whom preceded her in death.
The family she leaves behind to cherish her memories are her children: Isabel (Santiago) Herrera of Corpus Christi, Texas; Idolina (Steve) Rodriguez of Robstown, Texas; Mandy (Roy) Cardenas of Sinton, Texas; Israel (Lupita Barrera) Flores of Corpus Christi, Texas; Willie (Rosie) Flores of Robstown, Texas; Gilbert (Berta) Flores of Banquete, Texas and one sister, Emma Martinez of Corpus Christi, Texas. She was blessed with 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren and loved by her numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank her caregiver, Sandra Alvizo, for her unconditional love, help and care provided to their mom during her time of illness. May God continue to bless her and guide her as she cares for the elderly and the sick.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 05, 2014 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Robstown, Texas. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Robstown, Texas.
