A seven-year-old girl was found unconscious at the bottom of a public swimming pool in Robstown on Sunday, June 29. Later Sunday evening, the girl was pronounced dead.
The incident took place at the Diaz Public Pool in Robstown, where the girl was visiting with her family. After her mother lost sight of her, the girl was discovered in the deep end of the pool and pulled out of the water.
Robstown EMS was called. Crews said they were unclear as to how long the girl was underwater, but stated that her lungs had quite a bit of water in them.
Police made contact with pool personnel, who said lifeguards were on duty at the time of the drowning. Ultimately, authorities decided that the drowning was accidental.
