Roel L. Benavides 58 years of age passed away on June 22, 2014 in a Corpus Christi Hospital after a short illness.

Roel is a 1974 Graduate of San Diego High School. He worked for Bowden Ford in Alice, Texas for 13 years, City of Alice, GCR Tire Service, Strouhal, and then continued his specialty when he established R&N Auto Repairs. Roel loved his work, enjoyed hunting, bowling, helping his wife Norma at the Flower Shop, spending time with his friends, family and grandchildren. Roel was a man of strong Christian faith, co-founded the House of Surrender and enjoyed singing at the church. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his brother Juvenal M. Benavides Jr., paternal grandparents Santos and Carolina Benavides, maternal grandparents Felix and Cayetano Contreras Lopez, one nephew Richard Ray Trejo. Roel is survived by his wife Norma M. Benavides of San Diego, two daughters Traci L. (John) Reyes of Corpus Christi, Zoe L. Benavides of San Diego, one step-daughter Cindy A. Trigo of San Diego, his parents Juvenal and Minerva L. Benavides of San Diego, two brothers Orlando (Selma) Benavides of San Diego, Rene (LaLi) Benavides of Alice, four sisters Nora Benavides of Alice, Isabel (Chon) Garcia of San Diego, Esmeralda (Ruben) Trejo of Alice, Nilda (Danny) Benavides of San Diego, two grandchildren McKaelyn J. Benavides & John M. Reyes, Jr. numerous nieces & nephews and a special thanks to Rudy & Yvonne P. Martinez and Hugo Berlanga. Active Pallbearers; Oscar Paiz, Ricardo H. Garcia, Jr., Hector Munoz, Javier Maldonado, John Upchurch and Regino Molina, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers; Juan Manuel Benavides, Jorge Orozco, Robert Trejo, Chonito Garcia, Jr., Corando Solis III, Rene Benavides, Jr. and Orlando Benavides, Jr.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. that same evening at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home-San Diego. Funeral Service will be on Friday, June 27, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home-San Diego. Pastors Arturo and Delia Morin officiating the services along with their daughter, Valerie Morin. Burial will follow at the San Diego Cemetery #2.
