Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi announced on Monday that Daymond John, Founder and CEO of FUBU and TV Personality on ABC’s “Shark Tank,” as the next speaker for the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Distinguished Speaker Series.

John, a young entrepreneur, an industry pioneer, and a highly-regarded marketing expert who has surpassed new heights of commercial and financial success, will discuss how to get into the goal-setting mindset on Wednesday, Oct. 8, at 8 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. Tickets will go on sale Monday, Aug. 25. Ticket prices range from $28-$48. VIP seating will also be available.

The successful fashion icon has evolved into one of the most sought after branding experts, business, and motivational speakers in the country. John created the iconic fashion brand FUBU, standing for “For Us By Us,” and laid the groundwork for other companies to compete in the untapped market of urban apparel. FUBU has recorded annual sales of $350 million.

In 2009, John joined ABC’s “Shark Tank” cast. He and four other executives listen to business pitches from everyday people hoping to launch their company or product to new heights. John invests his own money in every project and becomes partners with the entrepreneurs helping turn their dreams into a reality.

John has written two books and has received prestigious awards including Brandweek Marketer of the Year Award and Ernst & Young’s New York Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

A free Student Forum will precede the Distinguished Speaker Series event on October 8. John will address high school and college students during the event.

A portion of net proceeds from the Distinguished Speaker Series go toward scholarships for students attending Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.
