Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a crash at the intersection of South Alameda St. and Robert Dr. and found a 2008 Jeep Cherokee had struck a utility pole and the driver had abandoned the vehicle and had fled the scene.
The crash investigation revealed that the Jeep was traveling south in the 500 block of Robert Dr. when the driver failed to control speed went up and over the curb and onto the sidewalk before striking the pole.
While officers were investigating the crash, they received a call from 25-year-old Mick Jarvis, who was at his home in the 700 block of Lansdown Dr. trying to report the same Jeep stolen.
Officers responded and contacted the suspect, and during the investigation determined that the Jeep had not been stolen, and instead had been wrecked into the pole by the suspect, and then he was picked up and given a ride home.
It was also determined by officers that the suspect was intoxicated and he was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, a Class A misdemeanor.
