The Calallen Lady Cats volleyball team could not have asked for a better start to the season. The group continued its perfect run through the beginning of the season with a spotless resume at the Corpus Christi ISD Spikefest.

Calallen took care of Rockport-Fulton 25-18, 25-18, 25-10 in the title game to claim the Spikefest championship at Ray High School.

The Lady Cats even had some victories over District 30-5A opponents in Alice and Victoria East. Calallen outlasted East to reach the championship match.

But the Lady Cats weren't the only team showing the strength of the district.

Tuloso-Midway took the consolation crown in the championship bracket.

The Cherokees swept St. Mary's Hall in the consolation game to give the team fifth place out of 24 schools. T-M won its pool with St. Mary's Hall on Friday.
