Ethel Katherine Berthold Mumford, 93, went to be with our Heavenly Father on August 24, 2014. She was born on December 25, 1920, in San Patricio County to Julius and Donia Duge Berthold. She was the owner of Mumford Nursery for over 12 years. Ethel loved her plants almost as much as she did the Church. Ethel was the type of person everyone wanted to be around. She was always ready to help anyone in need or who just needed good conversation. Ethel was a devout Catholic, a member of St. James Catholic Church and lived her life according to the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi, “Lord make me an Instrument of your peace.” Ethel was a fine gardener, a great mother, a good Catholic, and an all around great human being. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, E.J. Mumford, one son, Richard Mumford, and her brother, Elton Berthold.

She is survived by her two children, Rodney Mumford and JoAnn (Jerome) Arnold both of Driscoll, Texas; one sister, Ellen Nora Hester of Weslaco, Texas; two grandchildren, Cindy (Aaron) Ames, Clint (Michelle) Mumford. She was also blessed with three great grandchildren, as well as, many other relatives and friends who loved her unconditionally.

A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Ramon Funeral Home Chapel in Robstown, Texas. A Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Robstown, Texas.

The family would also wish to extend their most heartfelt gratitude to Doctor Michael Winnie, the staff and nurses of Altus Hospice and Christus Home Health for the love and constant care that was given to Ethel and the family during our time of need.

Thank you and May God bless you.

In Lieu of flowers, the family would like for you to purchase a plant for yourself in remembrance of Ethel, or make a small donation to any charitable organization of your choice.
