The Tuloso-Midway volleyball team had little trouble finding success in its non-district schedule. In fact, the 12-2 Cherokees only losses thus far have come to District 30-5A foes while in tournament play.
But the district competition truly starts now with the opening of league play on Tuesday.
T-M kicked off the 30-5A slate on the road against Flour Bluff, a rematch of the Cherokeesí semifinal loss in the Sinton Varsity Classic on Saturday. The Hornets topped T-M 25-18, 25-14 to advance to the title match.
Despite the setback, the Cherokees rebounded to take third place at the tournament. T-M bounced the host Pirates in a tight, three-set match, 25-23, 23-25, 25-23.
Libero Analysa Gonzales received all-tournament honors for the Cherokees. She helped the team sweep pool play against Laredo LBJ, Yoakum and Beeville.
T-Mís first loss of the year also came in the midst of a strong tourney run.
The Cherokees fell to Victoria East at the Corpus Christi ISD Spikefest before eventually taking the Consolation Bracket crown.
T-M will travel to Seguin for a tournament beginning Thursday.
